When writing a report, a good,
clear structure is extremely important. Your report should include the
following sections:
Abstract
Summarise in a paragraph (200
words) what the research question/topic is, the analysis and the conclusions
you reach. Perhaps one sentence for each of the sections below.
1. Introduction
·
state what the topic is about
·
describe the background to the subject
and, ideally, the motivation
·
explain how you are going to answer the
question/address the topic
2. Main body
·
this should be divided into different
sections or subsections as appropriate
·
each section/subsection should be given
a descriptive/information heading
·
the body of the report is where you
develop your ideas and arguments in a logical manner
3. Conclusion
·
this is where you summarise what you have said in your report, stating
what your answer to the question is and why, and including any recommendations
for action (if appropriate)
4. References
·
include the full list of references consulted
